Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Atlas Refinery, Inc.

 

Atlas is a privately held, 127 year old, fifth generation specialty chemical company located in Newark, New Jersey.

 

Steve began his career over forty years ago, when he joined the management team of Atlas Refinery, Inc.  Atlas is a uniquely specialized chemical company, manufacturing fiber lubricants and auxiliaries for the leather and textile industries. He started as Assistant Plant Manager and soon became the company's Production Manager concentrating on new product creation, quality  control and operational improvements.  Realizing top line growth was essential to remaining competitive, he shifted his focus to sales and marketing becoming the driving force behind the company's successful expansion within the global leather industry.

 

This was accomplished by establishing a unique and diverse network of agents, dealers, and strategic partners throughout Asia, Mexico, South America, Europe, and the Indian sub-continent. These efforts led to the eventual manufacturing of Atlas brand products in Italy, South America, Mexico, and China, which are all major leather producing regions.  Steve's operational background coupled with his sales and marketing efforts transformed Atlas from primarily a domestic supplier into a globally diverse specialty chemicals manufacturer with strategic alliances, multiple continent manufacturing sites and distribution centers. In 1987, he became President and in January 2011, he became Chairman and CEO.

 

Steve has been a member and past President of the Ironbound Manufacturers Association, board member and past President of the New Jersey Oil & Chemical Association, and board member of the American Leather Chemists Association. For the past twenty-one years, Steve has served on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of the Leather Industries of America in Washington, D.C., as well as, its Foundation Board. His non-profit board member duties include being a board member of the Summit Area YMCA.

 

Steve is married to Pamela and they have four adult sons.  The oldest was recently appointed President and COO of Atlas.  Steve attended Miami University where he studied Business Management.
